Meet LCJP's Interim Executive Director

Dear LCJP Friends and Community,

I am honored and humbled to introduce myself as LCJP's Interim Executive Director. I began my time with LCJP in October 2019 as Development Director and immediately knew I had landed in just the right place. My first few months at LCJP brought the challenge of COVID and learning to engage with our community in a virtual space. I am proud of the work we accomplished during the pandemic which ranged from LCJP's first-ever (virtual) fundraiser to moving our entire Community Restorative Justice Program to a digital platform.

My work prior to LCJP has ranged from work with refugees in east and southern Africa to pro-bono legal services for victims of crime, in addition to working with foster children and youth as well as unhoused families. All of these experiences have shown me how Restorative Justice helps to meet a need the systems in our lives never will. Bringing people together, creating opportunities for us to connect and see the humanity in one another is the axis upon which all of my work spins.

In my personal life much of the same is what motivates and fuels me. My community of friends, family and chosen family are what keep me going--along with being a mom to a very wonderful and curious 9 year old! I am a veracious reader and epicurean and as a 2nd generation (mostly) Colorado native I love being outdoors.

As we begin to slowly shake off our COVID restlessness and move back to a new normal, I will be proud to lead the LCJP team in our critical work of Restorative Justice that is becoming more and more important all the time. We have a strong strategic plan that the staff and board are excitedly engaged in to help us grow and meet the local needs all of you have shared with us. I'm looking forward to all that the next year will bring as we grow and connect as a community.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions or would like to connect! I am truly looking forward to our continued good work at LCJP in my new role! shalene[at]lcjp.org
